Luke 12:26-36

MSG 26 If fussing can't even do that, why fuss at all? NIV 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? MSG 27 Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don't fuss with their appearance - but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. NIV 27 “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. MSG 28 If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? NIV 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! MSG 29 "What I'm trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God's giving. NIV 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. MSG 30 People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. NIV 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. MSG 31 Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. NIV 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. MSG 32 Don't be afraid of missing out. You're my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself. NIV 32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. MSG 33 "Be generous. Give to the poor. Get yourselves a bank that can't go bankrupt, a bank in heaven far from bankrobbers, safe from embezzlers, a bank you can bank on. NIV 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. MSG 34 It's obvious, isn't it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being. NIV 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. MSG 35 "Keep your shirts on; keep the lights on! NIV 35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, MSG 36 Be like house servants waiting for their master to come back from his honeymoon, awake and ready to open the door when he arrives and knocks. NIV 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.
