KJV 8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? NIV 8 “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coinsand loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? KJV 9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. NIV 9 And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ KJV 10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. NIV 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” KJV 11 And he said, A certain man had two sons: NIV 11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. KJV 12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. NIV 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. KJV 13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. NIV 13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. KJV 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. NIV 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. KJV 15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. NIV 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. KJV 16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. NIV 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. KJV 17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! NIV 17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! KJV 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, NIV 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
