CEB 26 As they led Jesus away, they grabbed Simon, a man from Cyrene, who was coming in from the countryside. They put the cross on his back and made him carry it behind Jesus. NIV 39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” CEB 40 Responding, the other criminal spoke harshly to him, "Don't you fear God, seeing that you've also been sentenced to die? NIV 40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? CEB 41 We are rightly condemned, for we are receiving the appropriate sentence for what we did. But this man has done nothing wrong." NIV 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” CEB 42 Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." NIV 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. ” CEB 43 Jesus replied, "I assure you that today you will be with me in paradise." NIV 43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” CEB 44 It was now about noon, and darkness covered the whole earth until about three o'clock, NIV 44 It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, CEB 45 while the sun stopped shining.
