Luke 5:1-10

KJV 1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, NIV 1 One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. KJV 2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. NIV 2 He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. KJV 3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. NIV 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. KJV 4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon,Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. NIV 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” KJV 5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. NIV 5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” KJV 6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. NIV 6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. KJV 7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. NIV 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. KJV 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. NIV 8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” KJV 9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: NIV 9 For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, KJV 10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon,Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. NIV 10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.”
