CEB 46 Jesus and his followers came into Jericho. As Jesus was leaving Jericho, together with his disciples and a sizable crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, Timaeus' son, was sitting beside the road. NRS 46 They came to Jericho. As he and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside. CEB 47 When he heard that Jesus of Nazareth was there, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, show me mercy!" NRS 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" CEB 48 Many scolded him, telling him to be quiet, but he shouted even louder, "Son of David, show me mercy!" NRS 48 Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" CEB 49 Jesus stopped and said, "Call him forward." They called the blind man, "Be encouraged! Get up! He's calling you." NRS 49 Jesus stood still and said, "Call him here." And they called the blind man, saying to him, "Take heart; get up, he is calling you." CEB 50 Throwing his coat to the side, he jumped up and came to Jesus. NRS 50 So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. CEB 51 Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man said, "Teacher, I want to see." NRS 51 Then Jesus said to him, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man said to him, "My teacher, let me see again." CEB 52 Jesus said, "Go, your faith has healed you." At once he was able to see, and he began to follow Jesus on the way. NRS 52 Jesus said to him, "Go; your faith has made you well." Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the way.
