Mark 12:1-11

WEB 1 He began to speak to them in parables. "A man planted a vineyard, set a hedge around it, dug a pit for the winepress, built a tower, rented it out to a farmer, and went into another country. NIV 1 Jesus then began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place. WEB 2 When it was time, he sent a servant to the farmer to get from the farmer his share of the fruit of the vineyard. NIV 2 At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. WEB 3 They took him, beat him, and sent him away empty. NIV 3 But they seized him, beat him and sent him away empty-handed. WEB 4 Again, he sent another servant to them; and they threw stones at him, wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully treated. NIV 4 Then he sent another servant to them; they struck this man on the head and treated him shamefully. WEB 5 Again he sent another; and they killed him; and many others, beating some, and killing some. NIV 5 He sent still another, and that one they killed. He sent many others; some of them they beat, others they killed. WEB 6 Therefore he had yet one, a beloved son, he sent him last to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.' NIV 6 “He had one left to send, a son, whom he loved. He sent him last of all, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ WEB 7 But those farmers said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.' NIV 7 “But the tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ WEB 8 They took him, killed him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard. NIV 8 So they took him and killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard. WEB 9 What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the farmers, and will give the vineyard to others. NIV 9 “What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others. WEB 10 Haven't you even read this Scripture: 'The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner. NIV 10 Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture: “ ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; WEB 11 This was from the Lord, It is marvelous in our eyes'?" NIV 11 the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?”
