Mark 14:52-72

NKJV 52 and he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked. NIV 52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind. NKJV 53 And they led Jesus away to the high priest; and with him were assembled all the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes. NIV 53 They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law came together. NKJV 54 But Peter followed Him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he sat with the servants and warmed himself at the fire. NKJV 55 Now the chief priests and all the council sought testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. NIV 55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any. NKJV 56 For many bore false witness against Him, but their testimonies did not agree. NIV 56 Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree. NKJV 57 Then some rose up and bore false witness against Him, saying, NIV 57 Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him: NKJV 58 "We heard Him say, 'I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.' " NIV 58 “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another, not made with hands.’ ” NKJV 59 But not even then did their testimony agree. NIV 59 Yet even then their testimony did not agree. NKJV 60 And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, saying, "Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?" NIV 60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” NKJV 61 But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" NIV 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer. Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?” NKJV 62 Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." NIV 62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” NKJV 63 Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "What further need do we have of witnesses? NIV 63 The high priest tore his clothes. “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he asked. NKJV 64 You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?" And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death. NIV 64 “You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?” They all condemned him as worthy of death. NKJV 65 Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him, and to say to Him, "Prophesy!" And the officers struck Him with the palms of their hands. NIV 65 Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said, “Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him. NKJV 66 Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came. NIV 66 While Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. NKJV 67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, "You also were with Jesus of Nazareth." NIV 67 When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him. “You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus,” she said. NKJV 68 But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are saying." And he went out on the porch, and a rooster crowed. NIV 68 But he denied it. “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about,” he said, and went out into the entryway. NKJV 69 And the servant girl saw him again, and began to say to those who stood by, "This is one of them." NIV 69 When the servant girl saw him there, she said again to those standing around, “This fellow is one of them.” NKJV 70 But he denied it again. And a little later those who stood by said to Peter again, "Surely you are one of them; for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it." NIV 70 Again he denied it. After a little while, those standing near said to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.” NKJV 71 Then he began to curse and swear, "I do not know this Man of whom you speak!" NIV 71 He began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know this man you’re talking about.” NKJV 72 A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And when he thought about it, he wept. NIV 72 Immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twiceyou will disown me three times.” And he broke down and wept.
