Mark 6:1-6

ESV 1 He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. NIV 1 Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples. ESV 2 And on the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, "Where did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to him? How are such mighty works done by his hands? NIV 2 When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. “Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? ESV 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?" And they took offense at him. NIV 3 Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. ESV 4 And Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household." NIV 4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” ESV 5 And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. NIV 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. ESV 6 And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went about among the villages teaching. NIV 6 He was amazed at their lack of faith. Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village.
