And when he is killed, after three days he will rise." NIV 31 because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise.” ESV 32 But they did not understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him. When he was in the house, he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” ESV 34 But they kept silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, ESV 37 "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me." NIV 37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” ESV 38 John said to him, "Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us." NIV 38 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.” ESV 39 But Jesus said, "Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. NIV 39 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, ESV 40 For the one who is not against us is for us. NIV 40 for whoever is not against us is for us. ESV 41 For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward. NIV 41 Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward. ESV 42 "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin,it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. NIV 42 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea. ESV 43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. NIV 43 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. ESV 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. NIV 45 And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. ESV 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, NIV 47 And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out.
