KJV 20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve. ESV 20 When it was evening, he reclined at table with the twelve. KJV 21 And as they did eat, he said,Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. ESV 21 And as they were eating, he said, "Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me." KJV 22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I? ESV 22 And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another, "Is it I, Lord?" KJV 23 And he answered and said,He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. ESV 23 He answered, "He who has dipped his hand in the dish with me will betray me. KJV 24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born. ESV 24 The Son of Man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born." KJV 25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him,Thou hast said. ESV 25 Judas, who would betray him, answered, "Is it I, Rabbi?" He said to him, "You have said so." KJV 26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said,Take, eat; this is my body. ESV 26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is my body." KJV 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying,Drink ye all of it; ESV 27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, "Drink of it, all of you, KJV 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. ESV 28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. KJV 29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. ESV 29 I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom." KJV 30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. ESV 30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. KJV 31 Then saith Jesus unto them,All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. ESV 31 Then Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away because of me this night. For it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' KJV 32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. ESV 32 But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee." KJV 33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. ESV 33 Peter answered him, "Though they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away." KJV 34 Jesus said unto him,Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. ESV 34 Jesus said to him, "Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." KJV 35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples. ESV 35 Peter said to him, "Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you!" And all the disciples said the same. KJV 36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples,Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. ESV 36 Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I go over there and pray." KJV 37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. ESV 37 And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. KJV 38 Then saith he unto them,My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. ESV 38 Then he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me." KJV 39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying,O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. ESV 39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will." KJV 40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter,What, could ye not watch with me one hour? ESV 40 And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter, "So, could you not watch with me one hour? KJV 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. ESV 41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." KJV 42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying,O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. ESV 42 Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, "My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done." KJV 43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. ESV 43 And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. KJV 44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. ESV 44 So, leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words again. KJV 45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them,Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. ESV 45 Then he came to the disciples and said to them, "Sleep and take your rest later on. See, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. KJV 46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me. ESV 46 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand."
