Matthew 21:1-8

NCV 1 As Jesus and his followers were coming closer to Jerusalem, they stopped at Bethphage at the hill called the Mount of Olives. From there Jesus sent two of his followers NIV 1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, NCV 2 and said to them, "Go to the town you can see there. When you enter it, you will quickly find a donkey tied there with its colt. Untie them and bring them to me. NIV 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. NCV 3 If anyone asks you why you are taking the donkeys, say that the Master needs them, and he will send them at once." NIV 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.” NCV 4 This was to bring about what the prophet had said: NIV 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: NCV 5 "Tell the people of Jerusalem, 'Your king is coming to you. He is gentle and riding on a donkey, on the colt of a donkey.'" NIV 5 “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ” NCV 6 The followers went and did what Jesus told them to do. NIV 6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. NCV 7 They brought the donkey and the colt to Jesus and laid their coats on them, and Jesus sat on them. NIV 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. NCV 8 Many people spread their coats on the road. Others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. NIV 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
