Matthew 21:14-24

NRS 14 The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he cured them. NIV 14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. NRS 15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the amazing things that he did, and heard the children crying out in the temple, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they became angry NIV 15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant. NRS 16 and said to him, "Do you hear what these are saying?" Jesus said to them, "Yes; have you never read, "Out of the mouths of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise for yourself'?" NIV 16 “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, “ ‘From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’?” NRS 17 He left them, went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there. NIV 17 And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night. NRS 18 In the morning, when he returned to the city, he was hungry. NIV 18 Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. NRS 19 And seeing a fig tree by the side of the road, he went to it and found nothing at all on it but leaves. Then he said to it, "May no fruit ever come from you again!" And the fig tree withered at once. NIV 19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered. NRS 20 When the disciples saw it, they were amazed, saying, "How did the fig tree wither at once?" NIV 20 When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked. NRS 21 Jesus answered them, "Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, "Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' it will be done. NIV 21 Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. NRS 22 Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive." NIV 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” NRS 23 When he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, "By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?" NIV 23 Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you this authority?” NRS 24 Jesus said to them, "I will also ask you one question; if you tell me the answer, then I will also tell you by what authority I do these things. NIV 24 Jesus replied, “I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
