Matthew 2:1-7

CSB 1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, wise men from the east arrived unexpectedly in Jerusalem, NIV 1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem CSB 2 saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him." NIV 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” CSB 3 When King Herod heard this, he was deeply disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. NIV 3 When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. CSB 4 So he assembled all the chief priests and scribes of the people and asked them where the Messiah would be born. NIV 4 When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. CSB 5 "In Bethlehem of Judea," they told him, "because this is what was written by the prophet: NIV 5 “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: CSB 6 And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the leaders of Judah: because out of you will come a leader who will shepherd My people Israel. " NIV 6 “ ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’ ” CSB 7 Then Herod secretly summoned the wise men and asked them the exact time the star appeared. NIV 7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.
