Proverbs 12

WEB 1 Whoever loves correction loves knowledge, But he who hates reproof is stupid. NIV 1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid. WEB 2 A good man shall obtain favor from Yahweh, But he will condemn a man of wicked devices. NIV 2 Good people obtain favor from the LORD, but he condemns those who devise wicked schemes. WEB 3 A man shall not be established by wickedness, But the root of the righteous shall not be moved. NIV 3 No one can be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted. WEB 4 A worthy woman is the crown of her husband, But a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones. NIV 4 A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones. WEB 5 The thoughts of the righteous are just. The advice of the wicked is deceitful. NIV 5 The plans of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful. WEB 6 The words of the wicked are about lying in wait for blood, But the speech of the upright rescues them. NIV 6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them. WEB 7 The wicked are overthrown, and are no more, But the house of the righteous shall stand. NIV 7 The wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous stands firm. WEB 8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom, But he who has a warped mind shall be despised. NIV 8 A person is praised according to their prudence, and one with a warped mind is despised. WEB 9 Better is he who is lightly esteemed, and has a servant, Than he who honors himself, and lacks bread. NIV 9 Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food. WEB 10 A righteous man regards the life of his animal, But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel. NIV 10 The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. WEB 11 He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, But he who chases fantasies is void of understanding. NIV 11 Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense. WEB 12 The wicked desires the plunder of evil men, But the root of the righteous flourishes. NIV 12 The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers, but the root of the righteous endures. WEB 13 An evil man is trapped by sinfulness of lips, But the righteous shall come out of trouble. NIV 13 Evildoers are trapped by their sinful talk, and so the innocent escape trouble. WEB 14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth. The doings of a man's hands shall be rewarded to him. NIV 14 From the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things, and the work of their hands brings them reward. WEB 15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who is wise listens to counsel. NIV 15 The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice. WEB 16 A fool shows his annoyance the same day, But one who overlooks an insult is prudent. NIV 16 Fools show their annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult. WEB 17 He who is truthful testifies honestly, But a false witness lies. NIV 17 An honest witness tells the truth, but a false witness tells lies. WEB 18 There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword, But the tongue of the wise heals. NIV 18 The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. WEB 19 Truth's lips will be established forever, But a lying tongue is only momentary. NIV 19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. WEB 20 Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, But joy comes to the promoters of peace. NIV 20 Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy. WEB 21 No mischief shall happen to the righteous, But the wicked shall be filled with evil. NIV 21 No harm overtakes the righteous, but the wicked have their fill of trouble. WEB 22 Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, But those who do the truth are his delight. NIV 22 The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. WEB 23 A prudent man keeps his knowledge, But the hearts of fools proclaim foolishness. NIV 23 The prudent keep their knowledge to themselves, but a fool’s heart blurts out folly. WEB 24 The hands of the diligent ones shall rule, But laziness ends in slave labor. NIV 24 Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor. WEB 25 Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, But a kind word makes it glad. NIV 25 Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up. WEB 26 The righteous is cautious in friendship, But the way of the wicked leads them astray. NIV 26 The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. WEB 27 The slothful man doesn't roast his game, But the possessions of diligent men are prized. NIV 27 The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt. WEB 28 In the way of righteousness is life; In its path there is no death. NIV 28 In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.
