1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,

Hijo mío, no te olvides de mis enseñanzas;más bien, guarda en tu corazón mis mandamientos.
2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.

Porque prolongarán tu vida muchos añosy te traerán prosperidad.
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.

Que nunca te abandonen el amor y la verdad:llévalos siempre alrededor de tu cuelloy escríbelos en el libro de tu corazón.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Contarás con el favor de Diosy tendrás buena fama entre la gente.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

Confía en el SEÑOR de todo corazón,y no en tu propia inteligencia.
6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Reconócelo en todos tus caminos,y él allanará tus sendas.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

No seas sabio en tu propia opinión;más bien, teme al SEÑOR y huye del mal.
8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

Esto infundirá salud a tu cuerpoy fortalecerá tu ser.
9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;

Honra al SEÑOR con tus riquezasy con los primeros frutos de tus cosechas.
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Así tus graneros se llenarán a reventary tus bodegas rebosarán de vino nuevo.
11 My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke,

Hijo mío, no desprecies la disciplina del SEÑOR,ni te ofendas por sus reprensiones.
12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

Porque el SEÑOR disciplina a los que ama,como corrige un padre a su hijo querido.
13 Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding,

Dichoso el que halla sabiduría,el que adquiere inteligencia.
14 for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.

Porque ella es de más provecho que la platay rinde más ganancias que el oro.
15 She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.

Es más valiosa que las piedras preciosas:¡ni lo más deseable se le puede comparar!
16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.

Con la mano derecha ofrece larga vida;con la izquierda, honor y riquezas.
17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.

Sus caminos son placenterosy en sus senderos hay paz.
18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.

Ella es árbol de vida para quienes la abrazan;¡dichosos los que la retienen!
19 By wisdom the LORD laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place;

Con sabiduría afirmó el SEÑOR la tierra,con inteligencia estableció los cielos.
20 by his knowledge the watery depths were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew.

Por su conocimiento se separaron las aguas,y las nubes dejaron caer su rocío.
21 My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion;

Hijo mío, conserva el buen juicio;no pierdas de vista la discreción.
22 they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck.

Te serán fuente de vida,te adornarán como un collar.
23 Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble.

Podrás recorrer tranquilo tu camino,y tus pies no tropezarán.
24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

Al acostarte, no tendrás temor alguno;te acostarás y dormirás tranquilo.
25 Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,

No temerás ningún desastre repentino,ni la desgracia que sobreviene a los impíos.
26 for the LORD will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.

Porque el SEÑOR estará siempre a tu ladoy te librará de caer en la trampa.
27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.

No niegues un favor a quien te lo pida,si en tu mano está el otorgarlo.
28 Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you”— when you already have it with you.

Nunca digas a tu prójimo:«Vuelve más tarde; te ayudaré mañana»,si hoy tienes con qué ayudarlo.
29 Do not plot harm against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you.

No urdas el mal contra tu prójimo,contra el que ha puesto en ti su confianza.
30 Do not accuse anyone for no reason— when they have done you no harm.

No entres en pleito con nadieque no te haya hecho ningún daño.
31 Do not envy the violent or choose any of their ways.

No envidies a los violentos,ni optes por andar en sus caminos.
32 For the LORD detests the perverse but takes the upright into his confidence.

Porque el SEÑOR aborrece al perverso,pero al íntegro le brinda su amistad.
33 The LORD’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous.

La maldición del SEÑOR cae sobre la casa del malvado;su bendición, sobre el hogar de los justos.
34 He mocks proud mockers but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.

El SEÑOR se burla de los burlones,pero muestra su favor a los humildes.
35 The wise inherit honor, but fools get only shame.

Los sabios son dignos de honra,pero los necios solo merecen deshonra.
