1 (118-1) Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.
1 Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.
2 (118-2) Blessed are they that search his testimonies: that seek him with their whole heart.
2 Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart—
3 (118-3) For they that work iniquity, have not walked in his ways.
3 they do no wrong but follow his ways.
4 (118-4) Thou hast commanded thy commandments to be kept most diligently.
4 You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed.
5 (118-5) O! that my ways may be directed to keep thy justifications.
5 Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees!
6 (118-6) Then shall I not be confounded, when I shall look into all thy commandments.
6 Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands.
7 (118-7) I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned the judgments of thy justice.
7 I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.
8 (118-8) I will keep thy justifications: O! do not thou utterly forsake me.
8 I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me.
9 (118-9) By what doth a young man correct his way? by observing thy words.
9 How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.
10 (118-10) With my whole heart have I sought after thee: let me not stray from thy commandments.
10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.
11 (118-11) Thy words have I hidden in my heart, that I may not sin against thee.
11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
12 (118-12) Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy justifications.
12 Praise be to you, LORD; teach me your decrees.
13 (118-13) With my lips I have pronounced all the judgments of thy mouth.
13 With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth.
14 (118-14) I have been delighted in the way of thy testimonies, as in all riches.
14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.
15 (118-15) I will meditate on thy commandments: and I will consider thy ways.
15 I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways.
16 (118-16) I will think of thy justifications: I will not forget thy words.
16 I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.
17 (118-17) Give bountifully to thy servant, enliven me: and I shall keep thy words.
17 Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word.

18 Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.
19 (118-19) I am a sojourner on the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
19 I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me.
20 (118-20) My soul hath coveted to long for thy justifications, at all times.
20 My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times.
21 (118-21) Thou hast rebuked the proud: they are cursed who decline from thy commandments.
21 You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands.
22 (118-22) Remove from me reproach and contempt: because I have sought after thy testimonies.
22 Remove from me their scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes.
23 (118-23) For princes sat, and spoke against me: but thy servant was employed in thy justifications.
23 Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees.
24 (118-24) For thy testimonies are my meditation: and thy justifications my counsel.
24 Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.
25 (118-25) My soul hath cleaved to the pavement: quicken thou me according to thy word.
25 I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word.
26 (118-26) I have declared my ways, and thou hast heard me: teach me thy justifications.
26 I gave an account of my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees.
27 (118-27) Make me to understand the way of thy justifications: and I shall be exercised in thy wondrous works.
27 Cause me to understand the way of your precepts, that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds.
28 (118-28) My soul hath slumbered through heaviness: strengthen thou me in thy words.
28 My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.

29 Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law.
30 (118-30) I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments I have not forgotten.
30 I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws.
31 (118-31) I have stuck to thy testimonies, O Lord: put me not to shame.
31 I hold fast to your statutes, LORD; do not let me be put to shame.
32 (118-32) I have run the way of thy commandments, when thou didst enlarge my heart.
32 I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding.
33 (118-33) Set before me for a law the way of thy justifications, O Lord: and I will always seek after it.
33 Teach me, LORD, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end.
34 (118-34) Give me understanding, and I will search thy law; and I will keep it with my whole heart.
34 Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart.
35 (118-35) Lead me into the path of thy commandments; for this same I have desired.

36 (118-36) Incline my heart into thy testimonies and not to covetousness.
36 Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.
37 (118-37) Turn away my eyes that they may not behold vanity: quicken me in thy way.
37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.
38 (118-38) Establish thy word to thy servant, in thy fear.
38 Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared.
39 (118-39) Turn away my reproach, which I have apprehended: for thy judgments are delightful.
39 Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good.
40 (118-40) Behold I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy justice.
40 How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life.
41 (118-41) Let thy mercy also come upon me, O Lord: thy salvation according to thy word.
41 May your unfailing love come to me, LORD, your salvation, according to your promise;
42 (118-42) So shall I answer them that reproach me in any thing; that I have trusted in thy words.
42 then I can answer anyone who taunts me, for I trust in your word.
43 (118-43) And take not thou the word of truth utterly out of my mouth: for in thy words, I have hoped exceedingly.
43 Never take your word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws.
44 (118-44) So shall I always keep thy law, for ever and ever.
44 I will always obey your law, for ever and ever.
45 (118-45) And I walked at large: because I have sought after thy commandments.
45 I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.
46 (118-46) And I spoke of thy testimonies before kings: and I was not ashamed.
46 I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame,
47 (118-47) I meditated also on thy commandments, which I loved.
47 for I delight in your commands because I love them.
48 (118-48) And I lifted up my hands to thy commandments, which I loved: and I was exercised in thy justifications.
48 I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees.
49 (118-49) Be thou mindful of thy word to thy servant, in which thou hast given me hope.
49 Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope.
50 (118-50) This hath comforted me in my humiliation: because thy word hath enlivened me.
50 My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.
51 (118-51) The proud did iniquitously altogether: but I declined not from thy law.
51 The arrogant mock me unmercifully, but I do not turn from your law.
52 (118-52) I remembered, O Lord, thy judgments of old: and I was comforted.
52 I remember, LORD, your ancient laws, and I find comfort in them.
53 (118-53) A fainting hath taken hold of me, because of the wicked that forsake thy law.
53 Indignation grips me because of the wicked, who have forsaken your law.
54 (118-54) Thy justifications were the subject of my song, in the place of my pilgrimage.
54 Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge.
55 (118-55) In the night I have remembered thy name, O Lord: and have kept thy law.
55 In the night, LORD, I remember your name, that I may keep your law.
56 (118-56) This happened to me: because I sought after thy justifications.
56 This has been my practice: I obey your precepts.
57 (118-57) O Lord, my portion, I have said, I would keep thy law.
57 You are my portion, LORD; I have promised to obey your words.
58 (118-58) I entreated thy face with all my heart: have mercy on me according to thy word.
58 I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.
59 (118-59) I have thought on my ways: and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.
59 I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes.
60 (118-60) I am ready, and am not troubled: that I may keep thy commandments.
60 I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands.
61 (118-61) The cords of the wicked have encompassed me: but I have not forgotten thy law.
61 Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law.
62 (118-62) I rose at midnight to give praise to thee; for the judgments of thy justification.
62 At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws.
63 (118-63) I am a partaker with all them that fear thee, and that keep thy commandments.
63 I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts.
64 (118-64) The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy justifications.
64 The earth is filled with your love, LORD; teach me your decrees.
65 (118-65) Thou hast done well with thy servant, O Lord, according to thy word.
65 Do good to your servant according to your word, LORD.
66 (118-66) Teach me goodness and discipline and knowledge; for I have believed thy commandments.
66 Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I trust your commands.
67 (118-67) Before I was humbled I offended; therefore have I kept thy word.
67 Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word.
68 (118-68) Thou art good; and in thy goodness teach me thy justifications.
68 You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.
69 (118-69) The iniquity of the proud hath been multiplied over me: but I will seek thy commandments with my whole heart.
69 Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart.
70 (118-70) Their heart is curdled like milk: but I have meditated on thy law.
70 Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law.
71 (118-71) It is good for me that thou hast humbled me, that I may learn thy justifications.
71 It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.
72 (118-72) The law of thy mouth is good to me, above thousands of gold and silver.
72 The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.
73 (118-73) Thy hands have made me and formed me: give me understanding, and I will learn thy commandments.
73 Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands.
74 (118-74) They that fear thee shall see me, and shall be glad:because I have greatly hoped in thy words.
74 May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word.
75 (118-75) I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are equity: and in thy truth thou hast humbled me.
75 I know, LORD, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.
76 (118-76) O! let thy mercy be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.
76 May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant.
77 (118-77) Let thy tender mercies come unto me, and I shall live: for thy law is my meditation.
77 Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight.
78 (118-78) Let the proud be ashamed, because they have done unjustly towards me: but I will be employed in thy commandments.
78 May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause; but I will meditate on your precepts.
79 (118-79) Let them that fear thee turn to me: and they that know thy testimonies.
79 May those who fear you turn to me, those who understand your statutes.
80 (118-80) Let my heart be undefiled in thy justifications, that I may not be confounded.
80 May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees, that I may not be put to shame.
81 (118-81) My soul hath fainted after thy salvation: and in thy word I have very much hoped.
81 My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word.
82 (118-82) My eyes have failed for thy word, saying: When wilt thou comfort me?
82 My eyes fail, looking for your promise; I say, “When will you comfort me?”
83 (118-83) For I am become like a bottle in the frost: I have not forgotten thy justifications.
83 Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your decrees.
84 (118-84) How many are the days of thy servant: when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?
84 How long must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors?
85 (118-85) The wicked have told me fables: but not as thy law.
85 The arrogant dig pits to trap me, contrary to your law.
86 (118-86) All thy statutes are truth: they have persecuted me unjustly, do thou help me.
86 All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for I am being persecuted without cause.
87 (118-87) They had almost made an end of me upon earth: but I have not forsaken thy commandments.
87 They almost wiped me from the earth, but I have not forsaken your precepts.
88 (118-88) Quicken thou me according to thy mercy: and I shall keep the testimonies of thy mouth.
88 In your unfailing love preserve my life, that I may obey the statutes of your mouth.
