ESV 1 Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer! NIV 1 Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. ESV 2 O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah NIV 2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods ESV 3 But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him. NIV 3 Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him. ESV 4 Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah NIV 4 Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. ESV 5 Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD. NIV 5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD. ESV 6 There are many who say, "Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!" NIV 6 Many, LORD, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us. ESV 7 You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. NIV 7 Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound. ESV 8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. NIV 8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.
