Psalm 5

NRS 1 Give ear to my words, O Lord; give heed to my sighing. NIV 1 Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament. NRS 2 Listen to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you I pray. NIV 2 Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. NRS 3 O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to you, and watch. NIV 3 In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. NRS 4 For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil will not sojourn with you. NIV 4 For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome. NRS 5 The boastful will not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. NIV 5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong; NRS 6 You destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful. NIV 6 you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest. NRS 7 But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house, I will bow down toward your holy temple in awe of you. NRS 8 Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me. NRS 9 For there is no truth in their mouths; their hearts are destruction; their throats are open graves; they flatter with their tongues. NIV 9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies. NRS 10 Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of their many transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you. NIV 10 Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. NRS 11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, so that those who love your name may exult in you. NRS 12 For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover them with favor as with a shield. NIV 12 Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
