Psalm 68

CSB 1 God arises. His enemies scatter, and those who hate Him flee from His presence. NIV 1 May God arise, may his enemies be scattered; may his foes flee before him. CSB 2 As smoke is blown away, so You blow [them] away. As wax melts before the fire, so the wicked are destroyed before God. NIV 2 May you blow them away like smoke— as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God. CSB 3 But the righteous are glad; they rejoice before God and celebrate with joy. NIV 3 But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful. CSB 4 Sing to God! Sing praises to His name. Exalt Him who rides on the clouds - His name is Yahweh-and rejoice before Him. NIV 4 Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds ; rejoice before him—his name is the LORD. CSB 5 A father of the fatherless and a champion of widows is God in His holy dwelling. NIV 5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. CSB 6 God provides homes for those who are deserted. He leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious live in a scorched land. NIV 6 God sets the lonely in families,he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. CSB 7 God, when You went out before Your people, when You marched through the desert, Selah NIV 7 When you, God, went out before your people, when you marched through the wilderness, CSB 8 the earth trembled, and the skies poured down [rain] before God, the God of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. NIV 8 the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. CSB 9 You, God, showered abundant rain; You revived Your inheritance when it languished. NIV 9 You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance. CSB 10 Your people settled in it; by Your goodness You provided for the poor, God. NIV 10 Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, God, you provided for the poor. CSB 11 The Lord gave the command; a great company of women brought the good news: NIV 11 The Lord announces the word, and the women who proclaim it are a mighty throng: CSB 12 "The kings of the armies flee-they flee!" She who stays at home divides the spoil. NIV 12 “Kings and armies flee in haste; the women at home divide the plunder. CSB 13 While you lie among the sheepfolds, the wings of a dove are covered with silver, and its feathers with glistening gold. NIV 13 Even while you sleep among the sheep pens,the wings of my dove are sheathed with silver, its feathers with shining gold.” CSB 14 When the Almighty scattered kings in the land, it snowed on Zalmon. NIV 14 When the Almighty scattered the kings in the land, it was like snow fallen on Mount Zalmon. CSB 15 Mount Bashan is God's towering mountain; Mount Bashan is a mountain of many peaks. NIV 15 Mount Bashan, majestic mountain, Mount Bashan, rugged mountain, CSB 16 Why gaze with envy, you mountain peaks, at the mountain God desired for His dwelling? The Lord will live [there] forever! NIV 16 why gaze in envy, you rugged mountain, at the mountain where God chooses to reign, where the LORD himself will dwell forever? CSB 17 God's chariots are tens of thousands, thousands and thousands; the Lord is among them in the sanctuary as He was at Sinai. NIV 17 The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands; the Lord has come from Sinai into his sanctuary. CSB 18 You ascended to the heights, taking away captives; You received gifts from people, even from the rebellious, so that the Lord God might live [there]. NIV 18 When you ascended on high, you took many captives; you received gifts from people, even from the rebellious— that you,LORD God, might dwell there. CSB 19 May the Lord be praised! Day after day He bears our burdens; God is our salvation. Selah NIV 19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. CSB 20 Our God is a God of salvation, and escape from death belongs to the Lord God . NIV 20 Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death. CSB 21 Surely God crushes the heads of His enemies, the hairy head of one who goes on in his guilty acts. NIV 21 Surely God will crush the heads of his enemies, the hairy crowns of those who go on in their sins. CSB 22 The Lord said, "I will bring [them] back from Bashan; I will bring [them] back from the depths of the sea NIV 22 The Lord says, “I will bring them from Bashan; I will bring them from the depths of the sea, CSB 23 so that your foot may wade in blood and your dogs' tongues may have their share from the enemies." NIV 23 that your feet may wade in the blood of your foes, while the tongues of your dogs have their share.” CSB 24 People have seen Your procession, God, the procession of my God, my King, in the sanctuary. NIV 24 Your procession, God, has come into view, the procession of my God and King into the sanctuary. CSB 25 Singers lead the way, with musicians following; among them are young women playing tambourines. NIV 25 In front are the singers, after them the musicians; with them are the young women playing the timbrels. CSB 26 Praise God in the assemblies; [praise] the Lord from the fountain of Israel. NIV 26 Praise God in the great congregation; praise the LORD in the assembly of Israel. CSB 27 There is Benjamin, the youngest, leading them, the rulers of Judah in their assembly, the rulers of Zebulun, the rulers of Naphtali. NIV 27 There is the little tribe of Benjamin, leading them, there the great throng of Judah’s princes, and there the princes of Zebulun and of Naphtali. CSB 28 Your God has decreed your strength. Show Your strength, God, You who have acted on our behalf. NIV 28 Summon your power, God ; show us your strength, our God, as you have done before. CSB 29 Because of Your temple at Jerusalem, kings will bring tribute to You. NIV 29 Because of your temple at Jerusalem kings will bring you gifts. CSB 30 Rebuke the beast in the reeds, the herd of bulls with the calves of the peoples. Trample underfoot those with bars of silver. Scatter the peoples who take pleasure in war. NIV 30 Rebuke the beast among the reeds, the herd of bulls among the calves of the nations. Humbled, may the beast bring bars of silver. Scatter the nations who delight in war. CSB 31 Ambassadors will come from Egypt; Cush will stretch out its hands to God. NIV 31 Envoys will come from Egypt; Cush will submit herself to God. CSB 32 Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth; sing praise to the Lord, Selah NIV 32 Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord, CSB 33 to Him who rides in the ancient, highest heavens. Look, He thunders with His powerful voice! NIV 33 to him who rides across the highest heavens, the ancient heavens, who thunders with mighty voice. CSB 34 Ascribe power to God. His majesty is over Israel, His power among the clouds. NIV 34 Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the heavens. CSB 35 God, You are awe-inspiring in Your sanctuaries. The God of Israel gives power and strength to His people. May God be praised! NIV 35 You, God, are awesome in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!
