Psalm 75:1-9

NLT 1 We thank you, O God! We give thanks because you are near. People everywhere tell of your wonderful deeds. NIV 1 We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds. NLT 2 God says, “At the time I have planned, I will bring justice against the wicked. NIV 2 You say, “I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity. NLT 3 When the earth quakes and its people live in turmoil, I am the one who keeps its foundations firm. Interlude NIV 3 When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm. NLT 4 “I warned the proud, ‘Stop your boasting!’ I told the wicked, ‘Don’t raise your fists! NIV 4 To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns. NLT 5 Don’t raise your fists in defiance at the heavens or speak with such arrogance.’” NIV 5 Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak so defiantly.’ ” NLT 6 For no one on earth—from east or west, or even from the wilderness— should raise a defiant fist. NIV 6 No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves. NLT 7 It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall. NIV 7 It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another. NLT 8 For the LORD holds a cup in his hand that is full of foaming wine mixed with spices. He pours out the wine in judgment, and all the wicked must drink it, draining it to the dregs. NIV 8 In the hand of the LORD is a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices; he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth drink it down to its very dregs.
