Psalm 80

RHE 1 (79-1) <Unto the end, for them that shall be changed, a testimony for Asaph, a psalm.> (79-2) Give ear, O thou that rulest Israel: thou that leadest Joseph like a sheep. Thou that sittest upon the cherubims, shine forth NIV 1 Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth RHE 2 (79-3) Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasses. Stir up thy might, and come to save us. NIV 2 before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh. Awaken your might; come and save us. RHE 3 (79-4) Convert us, O God: and shew us thy face, and we shall be saved. NIV 3 Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. RHE 4 (79-5) O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy servant? NIV 4 How long, LORD God Almighty, will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people? RHE 5 (79-6) How long wilt thou feed us with the bread of tears: and give us for our drink tears in measure? NIV 5 You have fed them with the bread of tears; you have made them drink tears by the bowlful. RHE 6 (79-7) Thou hast made us to be a contradiction to our neighbours: and our enemies have scoffed at us. NIV 6 You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors, and our enemies mock us. RHE 7 (79-8) O God of hosts, convert us: and shew thy face, and we shall be saved. NIV 7 Restore us, God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. RHE 8 (79-9) Thou hast brought a vineyard out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the Gentiles and planted it. NIV 8 You transplanted a vine from Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it. RHE 9 (79-10) Thou wast the guide of its journey in its sight: thou plantedst the roots thereof, and it filled the land. NIV 9 You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land. RHE 10 (79-11) The shadow of it covered the hills: and the branches thereof the cedars of God. NIV 10 The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches. RHE 11 (79-12) It stretched forth its branches unto the sea, and its boughs unto the river. NIV 11 Its branches reached as far as the Sea,its shoots as far as the River. RHE 12 (79-13) Why hast thou broken down the hedge thereof, so that all they who pass by the way do pluck it? NIV 12 Why have you broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its grapes? RHE 13 (79-14) The boar out of the wood hath laid it waste: and a singular wild beast hath devoured it. NIV 13 Boars from the forest ravage it, and insects from the fields feed on it. RHE 14 (79-15) Turn again, O God of hosts, look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vineyard: NIV 14 Return to us, God Almighty! Look down from heaven and see! Watch over this vine, RHE 15 (79-16) And perfect the same which thy right hand hath planted: and upon the son of man whom thou hast confirmed for thyself. NIV 15 the root your right hand has planted, the son you have raised up for yourself. RHE 16 (79-17) Things set on fire and dug down shall perish at the rebuke of thy countenance. NIV 16 Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire; at your rebuke your people perish. RHE 17 (79-18) Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand: and upon the son of man whom thou hast confirmed for thyself. NIV 17 Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand, the son of man you have raised up for yourself. RHE 18 (79-19) And we depart not from thee, thou shalt quicken us: and we will call upon thy name. NIV 18 Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name. RHE 19 (79-20) O Lord God of hosts, convert us and shew thy face, and we shall be saved. NIV 19 Restore us, LORD God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.
