Psalm 108

NRS

MSG

1 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make melody. Awake, my soul!
1 I'm ready, God, so ready, ready from head to toe. Ready to sing, ready to raise a God-song:
2 Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn.
2 "Wake, soul! Wake, lute! Wake up, you sleepyhead sun!"
3 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples, and I will sing praises to you among the nations.
3 I'm thanking you, God, out in the streets, singing your praises in town and country.
4 For your steadfast love is higher than the heavens, and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
4 The deeper your love, the higher it goes; every cloud's a flag to your faithfulness.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth.
5 Soar high in the skies, O God! Cover the whole earth with your glory!
6 Give victory with your right hand, and answer me, so that those whom you love may be rescued.
6 And for the sake of the one you love so much, reach down and help me - answer me!
7 God has promised in his sanctuary: "With exultation I will divide up Shechem, and portion out the Vale of Succoth.
7 That's when God spoke in holy splendor: "Brimming over with joy, I make a present of Shechem, I hand out Succoth Valley as a gift.
8 Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter.
8 Gilead's in my pocket, to say nothing of Manasseh. Ephraim's my hard hat, Judah my hammer.
9 Moab is my washbasin; on Edom I hurl my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph."
9 Moab's a scrub bucket - I mop the floor with Moab, Spit on Edom, rain fireworks all over Philistia."
10 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
10 Who will take me to the thick of the fight? Who'll show me the road to Edom?
11 Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go out, O God, with our armies.
11 You aren't giving up on us, are you, God? refusing to go out with our troops?
12 O grant us help against the foe, for human help is worthless.
12 Give us help for the hard task; human help is worthless.
13 With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.
13 In God we'll do our very best; he'll flatten the opposition for good.
