Psalm 116

RHE

NLT

1 (114-1) I have loved, because the Lord will hear the voice of my prayer.
1 I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy.
2 (114-2) Because he hath inclined his ear unto me: and in my days I will call upon him.
2 Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!
3 (114-3) The sorrows of death have compassed me: and the perils of hell have found me. I met with trouble and sorrow:
3 Death wrapped its ropes around me; the terrors of the grave overtook me. I saw only trouble and sorrow.
4 (114-4) And I called upon the name of the Lord. O Lord, deliver my soul.
4 Then I called on the name of the LORD : “Please, LORD, save me!”
5 (114-5) The Lord is merciful and just, and our God sheweth mercy.
5 How kind the LORD is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours!
6 (114-6) The Lord is the keeper of little ones: I was humbled, and he delivered me.
6 The LORD protects those of childlike faith; I was facing death, and he saved me.
7 (114-7) Turn, O my soul, into thy rest: for the Lord hath been bountiful to thee.
7 Let my soul be at rest again, for the LORD has been good to me.
8 (114-8) For he hath delivered my soul from death: my eyes from tears, my feet from falling.
8 He has saved me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.
9 (114-9) I will please the Lord in the land of the living.
9 And so I walk in the LORD ’s presence as I live here on earth!
10 (115-1) I have believed, therefore have I spoken; but I have been humbled exceedingly.
10 I believed in you, so I said, “I am deeply troubled, LORD .”
11 (115-2) I said in my excess: Every man is a liar.
11 In my anxiety I cried out to you, “These people are all liars!”
12 (115-3) What shall I render to the Lord, for all the things that he hath rendered to me?
12 What can I offer the LORD for all he has done for me?
13 (115-4) I will take the chalice of salvation; and I will call upon the name of the Lord.
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and praise the LORD ’s name for saving me.
14 (115-5) I will pay my vows to the Lord before all his people:
14 I will keep my promises to the LORD in the presence of all his people.
15 (115-6) Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
15 The LORD cares deeply when his loved ones die.
16 (115-7) O Lord, for I am thy servant: I am thy servant, and the son of thy handmaid. Thou hast broken my bonds:
16 O LORD, I am your servant; yes, I am your servant, born into your household; you have freed me from my chains.
17 (115-8) I will sacrifice to thee the sacrifice of praise, and I will call upon the name of the Lord.
17 I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD .
18 (115-9) I will pay my vows to the Lord in the sight of all his people:
18 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people—
19 (115-10) In the courts of the house of the Lord, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem.
19 in the house of the LORD in the heart of Jerusalem. Praise the LORD !
