1 Quick, God, I need your helping hand! The last decent person just went down, All the friends I depended on gone.

<<For the Chief Musician; upon an eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm of David.>> Help, Yahweh; for the godly man ceases. For the faithful fail from among the children of men.
2 Everyone talks in lie language; Lies slide off their oily lips. They doubletalk with forked tongues.

Everyone lies to his neighbor. With flattering lips, and with a double heart, do they speak.
3 Slice their lips off their faces! Pull The braggart tongues from their mouths!

May Yahweh cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that boasts,
4 I'm tired of hearing, "We can talk anyone into anything! Our lips manage the world."

Who have said, "With our tongue will we prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?"
5 Into the hovels of the poor, Into the dark streets where the homeless groan, God speaks: "I've had enough; I'm on my way To heal the ache in the heart of the wretched."

"Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says Yahweh; "I will set him in safety from those who malign him."
6 God's words are pure words, Pure silver words refined seven times In the fires of his word-kiln, Pure on earth as well as in heaven.

The words of Yahweh are flawless words, As silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times.
7 God, keep us safe from their lies, From the wicked who stalk us with lies,

You will keep them, Yahweh, You will preserve them from this generation forever.
8 From the wicked who collect honors For their wonderful lies.

The wicked walk on every side, When what is vile is exalted among the sons of men.
