Psalm 120

RHE

NLT

1 (119-1) In my trouble I cried to the Lord: and he heard me.
1 I took my troubles to the LORD ; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.
2 (119-2) O Lord, deliver my soul from wicked lips, and a deceitful tongue.
2 Rescue me, O LORD, from liars and from all deceitful people.
3 (119-3) What shall be given to thee, or what shall be added to thee, to a deceitful tongue?
3 O deceptive tongue, what will God do to you? How will he increase your punishment?
4 (119-4) The sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals that lay waste.
4 You will be pierced with sharp arrows and burned with glowing coals.
5 (119-5) Woe is me, that my sojourning is prolonged! I have dwelt with the inhabitants of Cedar:
5 How I suffer in far-off Meshech. It pains me to live in distant Kedar.
6 (119-6) My soul hath been long a sojourner.
6 I am tired of living among people who hate peace.
7 (119-7) With them that hated peace I was peaceable: when I spoke to them they fought against me without cause.
7 I search for peace; but when I speak of peace, they want war!
