Psalm 123

RHE

NLT

1 (122-1) To thee have I lifted up my eyes, who dwellest in heaven.
1 I lift my eyes to you, O God, enthroned in heaven.
2 (122-2) Behold as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters, As the eyes of the handmaid are on the hands of her mistress: so are our eyes unto the Lord our God, until he have mercy on us.
2 We keep looking to the LORD our God for his mercy, just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.
3 (122-3) Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us: for we are greatly filled with contempt.
3 Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy, for we have had our fill of contempt.
4 (122-4) For our soul is greatly filled: we are a reproach to the rich, and contempt to the proud.
4 We have had more than our fill of the scoffing of the proud and the contempt of the arrogant.
