Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible RHE
New Living Translation NLT
1 (129-1) <A gradual canticle.> Out of the depths I have cried to thee, O Lord:
1
From the depths of despair, O LORD, I call for your help.
2 (129-2) Lord, hear my voice. Let thy ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
2
Hear my cry, O Lord. Pay attention to my prayer.
3 (129-3) If thou, O Lord, wilt mark iniquities: Lord, who shall stand it.
3
LORD, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive?
4 (129-4) For with thee there is merciful forgiveness: and by reason of thy law, I have waited for thee, O Lord. My soul hath relied on his word:
4
But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.
5 (129-5) my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
5
I am counting on the LORD ; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word.
6 (129-6) From the morning watch even until night, let Israel hope in the Lord.
6
I long for the Lord more than sentries long for the dawn, yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.
7 (129-7) Because with the Lord there is mercy: and with him plentiful redemption.
7
O Israel, hope in the LORD ; for with the LORD there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows.
8 (129-8) And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
8
He himself will redeem Israel from every kind of sin.
