1 (130-1) <A gradual canticle of David.> Lord, my heart is not exalted: nor are my eyes lofty. Neither have I walked in great matters, nor in wonderful things above me.
1
LORD, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty. I don’t concern myself with matters too great or too awesome for me to grasp.
2 (130-2) If I was not humbly minded, but exalted my soul: As a child that is weaned is towards his mother, so reward in my soul.
2
Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk. Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 (130-3) Let Israel hope in the Lord, from henceforth now and for ever.
3
O Israel, put your hope in the LORD — now and always.
