Psalm 138

RHE

NLT

1 (137-1) <For David himself.> I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart: for thou hast heard the words of my mouth. I will sing praise to thee in the sight of the angels:
1 I give you thanks, O LORD, with all my heart; I will sing your praises before the gods.
2 (137-2) I will worship towards thy holy temple, and I will give glory to thy name. For thy mercy, and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy holy name above all.
2 I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.
3 (137-3) In what day soever I shall call upon thee, hear me: thou shalt multiply strength in my soul.
3 As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength.
4 (137-4) May all the kings of the earth give glory to thee: for they have heard all the words of thy mouth.
4 Every king in all the earth will thank you, LORD, for all of them will hear your words.
5 (137-5) And let them sing in the ways of the Lord: for great is the glory of the Lord.
5 Yes, they will sing about the LORD ’s ways, for the glory of the LORD is very great.
6 (137-6) For the Lord is high, and looketh on the low: and the high he knoweth afar off.
6 Though the LORD is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud.
7 (137-7) If I shall walk in the midst of tribulation, thou wilt quicken me: and thou hast stretched forth thy hand against the wrath of my enemies: and thy right hand hath saved me.
7 Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me.
8 (137-8) The Lord will repay for me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: O despise not the works of thy hands.
8 The LORD will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.
