Psalm 142

RHE

NLT

1 (141-1) <Of understanding for David, A prayer when he was in the cave.> (141-2) I cried to the Lord with my voice: with my voice I made supplication to the Lord.
1 I cry out to the LORD ; I plead for the LORD ’s mercy.
2 (141-3) In his sight I pour out my prayer, and before him I declare my trouble:
2 I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles.
3 (141-4) When my spirit failed me, then thou knewest my paths. In this way wherein I walked, they have hidden a snare for me.
3 When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn. Wherever I go, my enemies have set traps for me.
4 (141-5) I looked on my right hand, and beheld, and there was no one that would know me. Flight hath failed me: and there is no one that hath regard to my soul.
4 I look for someone to come and help me, but no one gives me a passing thought! No one will help me; no one cares a bit what happens to me.
5 (141-6) I cried to thee, O Lord: I said: Thou art my hope, my portion in the land of the living.
5 Then I pray to you, O LORD . I say, “You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life.
6 (141-7) Attend to my supplication: for I am brought very low. Deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
6 Hear my cry, for I am very low. Rescue me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.
7 (141-8) Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the just wait for me, until thou reward me.
7 Bring me out of prison so I can thank you. The godly will crowd around me, for you are good to me.”
