Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible RHE
New Living Translation NLT
1 (145-1) <Alleluia, of Aggeus and Zacharias.> (145-2) Praise the Lord, O my soul,
1
Praise the LORD ! Let all that I am praise the LORD .
2 (145-2) in my life I will praise the Lord: I will sing to my God as long as I shall be. Put not your trust in princes:
2
I will praise the LORD as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.
3 (145-3) In the children of men, in whom there is no salvation.
3
Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there.
4 (145-4) His spirit shall go forth, and he shall return into his earth: in that day all their thoughts shall perish.
4
When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them.
5 (145-5) Blessed is he who hath the God of Jacob for his helper, whose hope is in the Lord his God:
5
But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God.
6 (145-6) Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all things that are in them.
6
He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever.
7 (145-7) Who keepeth truth for ever: who executeth judgment for them that suffer wrong: who giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth them that are fettered:
7
He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners.
8 (145-8) The Lord enlighteneth the blind. The Lord lifteth up them that are cast down: the Lord loveth the just.
8
The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly.
9 (145-9) The Lord keepeth the strangers, he will support the fatherless and the widow: and the ways of sinners he will destroy.
9
The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
10 (145-10) The Lord shall reign for ever: thy God, O Sion, unto generation and generation.
10
The LORD will reign forever. He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations. Praise the LORD !
