Psalm 19

RHE

NLT

1 (18-1) <Unto the end. A Psalm Chapter for David.> (18-2) The heavens shew forth the glory of God, and the firmament declareth the work of his hands.
1 The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.
2 (18-3) Day to day uttereth speech, and night to night sheweth knowledge.
2 Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known.
3 (18-4) There are no speeches nor languages, where their voices are not heard.
3 They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard.
4 (18-5) Their sound hath gone forth into all the earth: and their words unto the ends of the world.
4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.
5 (18-6) He hath set his tabernacle in the sun: and he as a bridegroom coming out of his bridechamber, Hath rejoiced as a giant to run the way:
5 It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.
6 (18-7) His going out is from the end of heaven, And his circuit even to the end thereof: and there is no one that can hide himself from his heat.
6 The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat.
7 (18-8) The law of the Lord is unspotted, converting souls: the testimony of the Lord is faithful, giving wisdom to little ones.
7 The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
8 (18-9) The justices of the Lord are right, rejoicing hearts: the commandment of the Lord is lightsome, enlightening the eyes.
8 The commandments of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are clear, giving insight for living.
9 (18-10) The fear of the Lord is holy, enduring for ever and ever: the judgments of the Lord are true, justified in themselves.
9 Reverence for the LORD is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the LORD are true; each one is fair.
10 (18-11) More to be desired than gold and many precious stones: and sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.
10 They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb.
11 (18-12) For thy servant keepeth them, and in keeping them there is a great reward.
11 They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.
12 (18-13) Who can understand sins? from my secret ones cleanse me, O Lord:
12 How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults.
13 (18-14) And from those of others spare thy servant. If they shall have no dominion over me, then shall I be without spot: and I shall be cleansed form the greatest sin.
13 Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.
14 (18-15) And the words of my mouth shall be such as may please: and the meditation of my heart always in thy sight. O Lord, my helper and my Redeemer.
14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
