Psalm 28

NLT

ESV

1 I pray to you, O LORD, my rock. Do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you are silent, I might as well give up and die.
1 To you, O Lord, I call; my rock, be not deaf to me, lest, if you be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit.
2 Listen to my prayer for mercy as I cry out to you for help, as I lift my hands toward your holy sanctuary.
2 Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy, when I cry to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary.
3 Do not drag me away with the wicked— with those who do evil— those who speak friendly words to their neighbors while planning evil in their hearts.
3 Do not drag me off with the wicked, with the workers of evil, who speak peace with their neighbors while evil is in their hearts.
4 Give them the punishment they so richly deserve! Measure it out in proportion to their wickedness. Pay them back for all their evil deeds! Give them a taste of what they have done to others.
4 Give to them according to their work and according to the evil of their deeds; give to them according to the work of their hands; render them their due reward.
5 They care nothing for what the LORD has done or for what his hands have made. So he will tear them down, and they will never be rebuilt!
5 Because they do not regard the works of the Lord or the work of his hands, he will tear them down and build them up no more.
6 Praise the LORD ! For he has heard my cry for mercy.
6 Blessed be the Lord! For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
7 The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.
8 The LORD gives his people strength. He is a safe fortress for his anointed king.
8 The Lord is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed.
9 Save your people! Bless Israel, your special possession. Lead them like a shepherd, and carry them in your arms forever.
9 Oh, save your people and bless your heritage! Be their shepherd and carry them forever.
