1 Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
1 Bravo, God, bravo! Gods and all angels shout, "Encore!"
2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.
2 In awe before the glory, in awe before God's visible power. Stand at attention! Dress your best to honor him!
3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over many waters.
3 God thunders across the waters, Brilliant, his voice and his face, streaming brightness - God, across the flood waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
4 God's thunder tympanic, God's thunder symphonic.
5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
5 God's thunder smashes cedars, God topples the northern cedars.
6 He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.
6 The mountain ranges skip like spring colts, The high ridges jump like wild kid goats.
7 The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire.
7 God's thunder spits fire.
8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
8 God thunders, the wilderness quakes; He makes the desert of Kadesh shake.
9 The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, "Glory!"
9 God's thunder sets the oak trees dancing A wild dance, whirling; the pelting rain strips their branches. We fall to our knees - we call out, "Glory!"
10 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.
10 Above the floodwaters is God's throne from which his power flows, from which he rules the world.
11 May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!
11 God makes his people strong. God gives his people peace.
