Psalm 29

MSG

YLT

1 Bravo, God, bravo! Gods and all angels shout, "Encore!"
1 A Psalm of David. Ascribe to Jehovah, ye sons of the mighty, Ascribe to Jehovah honour and strength.
2 In awe before the glory, in awe before God's visible power. Stand at attention! Dress your best to honor him!
2 Ascribe to Jehovah the honour of His name, Bow yourselves to Jehovah, In the beauty of holiness.
3 God thunders across the waters, Brilliant, his voice and his face, streaming brightness - God, across the flood waters.
3 The voice of Jehovah [is] on the waters, The God of glory hath thundered, Jehovah [is] on many waters.
4 God's thunder tympanic, God's thunder symphonic.
4 The voice of Jehovah [is] with power, The voice of Jehovah [is] with majesty,
5 God's thunder smashes cedars, God topples the northern cedars.
5 The voice of Jehovah [is] shivering cedars, Yea, Jehovah shivers the cedars of Lebanon.
6 The mountain ranges skip like spring colts, The high ridges jump like wild kid goats.
6 And He causeth them to skip as a calf, Lebanon and Sirion as a son of Reems,
7 God's thunder spits fire.
7 The voice of Jehovah is hewing fiery flames,
8 God thunders, the wilderness quakes; He makes the desert of Kadesh shake.
8 The voice of Jehovah paineth a wilderness, Jehovah paineth the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 God's thunder sets the oak trees dancing A wild dance, whirling; the pelting rain strips their branches. We fall to our knees - we call out, "Glory!"
9 The voice of Jehovah paineth the oaks, And maketh bare the forests, And in His temple every one saith, `Glory.'
10 Above the floodwaters is God's throne from which his power flows, from which he rules the world.
10 Jehovah on the deluge hath sat, And Jehovah sitteth king -- to the age,
11 God makes his people strong. God gives his people peace.
11 Jehovah strength to his people giveth, Jehovah blesseth His people with peace!
