Psalm 3

RHE

NLT

1 <The psalm of David when he fled from the face of his son Absalom.> (3:1)
1 O LORD, I have so many enemies; so many are against me.
2 Many say to my soul: There is no salvation for him in his God.
2 So many are saying, “God will never rescue him!” Interlude
3 But thou, O Lord, art my protector, my glory, and the lifter up of my head.
3 But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.
4 I have cried to the Lord with my voice: and he hath heard me from his holy hill.
4 I cried out to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy mountain. Interlude
5 I have slept and have taken my rest: and I have risen up, because the Lord hath protected me.
5 I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me.
6 I will not fear thousands of the people surrounding me: arise, O Lord; save me, O my God.
6 I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.
7 For thou hast struck all them who are my adversaries without cause: thou hast broken the teeth of sinners.
7 Arise, O LORD ! Rescue me, my God! Slap all my enemies in the face! Shatter the teeth of the wicked!
8 Salvation is of the Lord: and thy blessing is upon thy people.
8 Victory comes from you, O LORD . May you bless your people. Interlude
