1 Great is the LORD, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain.

<<A Song. A Psalm by the sons of Korah.>> Great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised, In the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
2 Beautiful in its loftiness, the joy of the whole earth, like the heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion, the city of the Great King.

Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion, on the north sides, The city of the great King.
3 God is in her citadels; he has shown himself to be her fortress.

God has shown himself in her citadels as a refuge.
4 When the kings joined forces, when they advanced together,

For, behold, the kings assembled themselves, They passed by together.
5 they saw her and were astounded; they fled in terror.

They saw it, then were they amazed. They were dismayed, They hurried away.
6 Trembling seized them there, pain like that of a woman in labor.

Trembling took hold of them there, Pain, as of a woman in travail.
7 You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish shattered by an east wind.

With the east wind, you break the ships of Tarshish.
8 As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of the LORD Almighty, in the city of our God: God makes her secure forever.

As we have heard, so have we seen, In the city of Yahweh of Hosts, in the city of our God. God will establish it forever. Selah.
9 Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love.

We have thought about your lovingkindness, God, In the midst of your temple.
10 Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness.

As is your name, God, So is your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is full of righteousness.
11 Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments.

Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice, Because of your judgments.
12 Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers,

Walk about Zion, and go around her. Number the towers of it;
13 consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation.

Mark well her bulwarks. Consider her palaces, That you may tell it to the next generation.
14 For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.

For this God is our God forever and ever. He will be our guide even to death.
