1 LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.
1
<<For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments, upon the eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm by David.>> Yahweh, don't rebuke me in your anger, Neither discipline me in your wrath.
2 Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint; heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony.
2
Have mercy on me, Yahweh, for I am faint. Yahweh, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
3 My soul is in deep anguish. How long, LORD, how long?
3
My soul is also in great anguish. But you, Yahweh -- how long?
4 Turn, LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.
4
Return, Yahweh. Deliver my soul, And save me for your lovingkindness' sake.
5 Among the dead no one proclaims your name. Who praises you from the grave?
5
For in death there is no memory of you. In Sheol, who shall give you thanks?
6 I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.
6
I am weary with my groaning; Every night I flood my bed; I drench my couch with my tears.
7 My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes.
7
My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my adversaries.
8 Away from me, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping.
8
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, For Yahweh has heard the voice of my weeping.
9 The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.
9
Yahweh has heard my supplication. Yahweh will receive my prayer.
10 All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish; they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.
10
May all my enemies be ashamed and dismayed. They shall turn back, they shall be disgraced suddenly.
