1 <Unto the end, in verses, a psalm for David, for the octave.> (6-2) O Lord, rebuke me not in thy indignation, nor chastise me in thy wrath.

2 (6-3) Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak: heal me, O Lord, for my bones are troubled.

3 (6-4) And my soul is troubled exceedingly: but thou, O Lord, how long?

4 (6-5) Turn to me, O Lord, and deliver my soul: O save me for thy mercy’s sake.

5 (6-6) For there is no one in death, that is mindful of thee: and who shall confess to thee in hell?

6 (6-7) I have laboured in my groanings, every night I will wash my bed: I will water my couch with my tears.

7 (6-8) My eye is troubled through indignation: I have grown old amongst all my enemies.

8 (6-9) Depart from em, all ye workers of iniquity: for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.

9 (6-10) The Lord hath heard my supplication: the Lord hath received my prayer.

10 (6-11) Let all my enemies be ashamed, and be very much troubled: let them be turned back, and be ashamed very speedily.

New Living Translation NLT

1 O LORD, don’t rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage.

2 Have compassion on me, LORD, for I am weak. Heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony.

3 I am sick at heart. How long, O LORD, until you restore me?

4 Return, O LORD, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love.

5 For the dead do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave?

6 I am worn out from sobbing. All night I flood my bed with weeping, drenching it with my tears.

7 My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies.

8 Go away, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping.

9 The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer.

10 May all my enemies be disgraced and terrified. May they suddenly turn back in shame.
