1 In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.
1
In you, O Yahweh, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.
2 In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me.
2
In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me and save me.
3 Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
3
Be for me a rock of refuge to resort to always; you have ordained to save me, because you [are] my rock and my fortress.
4 Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.
4
My God, rescue me from [the] hand of [the] wicked, from [the] {grasp} of [the] evildoer and [the] oppressor,
5 For you have been my hope, Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth.
5
because you [are] my hope, O Lord Yahweh, my confidence from my youth.
6 From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb. I will ever praise you.
6
Upon you I have leaned {from birth}. [It was] you who {took} me from the womb of my mother. My praise [is] of you continually.
7 I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge.
7
I have become a wonder to many, but you [are] my strong refuge.
8 My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.
8
My mouth is filled with your praise, with your glory all the day.
9 Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone.
9
Do not cast me away in the time of old age; when my strength fails do not abandon me.
10 For my enemies speak against me; those who wait to kill me conspire together.
10
For my enemies talk concerning me, and those who watch for my life conspire together,
11 They say, “God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for no one will rescue him.”
11
saying, "His God has abandoned him. Pursue and seize him, because there is no deliverer."
12 Do not be far from me, my God; come quickly, God, to help me.
12
O God, do not be far from me. My God, hurry to help me.
13 May my accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace.
13
Let them be ashamed; let them perish who are {my adversaries}. Let [them] wrap themselves with scorn and disgrace who seek my harm.
14 As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.
14
But as for me, I will hope continually and increase your praise.
15 My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long— though I know not how to relate them all.
15
My mouth will tell of your righteousness, your salvation {all day long}, though I do not know [the full] sum [of them].
16 I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign LORD; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.
16
I will come in [to tell] the mighty deeds of Lord Yahweh. I will {make known} your righteousness, yours only.
17 Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.
17
O God, you have taught me from my youth, and up to now I have proclaimed your wonderful deeds.
18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.
18
And even when [I am] old and gray, O God, do not abandon me until I proclaim your {strength} to [this] generation, your power to every [one that] comes [after].
19 Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God?
19
And your righteousness, O God, [is] to [the] height [of heaven]. You who have done great things, O God, who [is] like you?
20 Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.
20
You who have caused me to see many troubles and evils, you will again revive me. And from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.
21 You will increase my honor and comfort me once more.
21
You will increase my greatness, and you will comfort me all around.
22 I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing praise to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel.
22
On my part, I will praise you with a stringed instrument, [and] your faithfulness, O my God. I will sing praises to you with a lyre, O Holy One of Israel.
23 My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered.
23
My lips will sing for joy when I sing praises to you, and my soul, which you have redeemed.
24 My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long, for those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame and confusion.
24
My tongue also will speak of your righteousness all the day, because they have been put to shame, because they have been humiliated who seek my harm.
