Psalm 84

CJB

NKJV

1 For the leader. On the gittit. A psalm of the sons of Korach: How deeply loved are your dwelling-places, ADONAI-Tzva'ot!
1 To the Chief Musician. On an instrument of Gath. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. How lovely is Your tabernacle, O Lord of hosts!
2 My soul yearns, yes, faints with longing for the courtyards of ADONAI; my heart and body cry for joy to the living God.
2 My soul longs, yes, even faints For the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
3 As the sparrow finds herself a home and the swallow her nest, where she lays her young, [so my resting-place is] by your altars, ADONAI-Tzva'ot, my king and my God.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home, And the swallow a nest for herself, Where she may lay her young-- Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts, My King and my God.
4 How happy are those who live in your house; they never cease to praise you! (Selah)
4 Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; They will still be praising You. Selah
5 How happy the man whose strength is in you, in whose heart are [pilgrim] highways.
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
6 Passing through the [dry] Baka Valley, they make it a place of springs, and the early rain clothes it with blessings.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength and appear before God in Tziyon.
7 They go from strength to strength; Each one appears before God in Zion.
8 ADONAI, God of armies, hear my prayer; listen, God of Ya'akov. (Selah)
8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; Give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah
9 God, see our shield [the king]; look at the face of your anointed.
9 O God, behold our shield, And look upon the face of Your anointed.
10 Better a day in your courtyards than a thousand [days elsewhere]. Better just standing at the door of my God's house than living in the tents of the wicked.
10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For ADONAI, God, is a sun and a shield; ADONAI bestows favor and honor; he will not withhold anything good from those whose lives are pure.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.
12 ADONAI-Tzva'ot, how happy is anyone who trusts in you!
12 O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You!
