1 (97-1) <A psalm for David himself.> Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle: because he hath done wonderful things. His right hand hath wrought for him salvation, and his arm is holy.

Sing a new song to the LORD, for he has done wonderful deeds. His right hand has won a mighty victory; his holy arm has shown his saving power!
2 (97-2) The Lord hath made known his salvation: he hath revealed his justice in the sight of the Gentiles.

The LORD has announced his victory and has revealed his righteousness to every nation!
3 (97-3) He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

He has remembered his promise to love and be faithful to Israel. The ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.
4 (97-4) Sing joyfully to God, all the earth; make melody, rejoice and sing.

Shout to the LORD, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy!
5 (97-5) Sing praise to the Lord on the harp, on the harp, and with the voice of a psalm:

Sing your praise to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and melodious song,
6 (97-6) With long trumpets, and sound of cornet. Make a joyful noise before the Lord our king:

with trumpets and the sound of the ram’s horn. Make a joyful symphony before the LORD, the King!
7 (97-7) Let the sea be moved and the fullness thereof: the world and they that dwell therein.

Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the earth and all living things join in.
8 (97-8) The rivers shall clap their hands, the mountains shall rejoice together

Let the rivers clap their hands in glee! Let the hills sing out their songs of joy
9 (97-9) At the presence of the Lord: because he cometh to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with justice, and the people with equity.
