Revelation 21

TMB

GW

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no more sea.
1 I saw a new heaven and a new earth, because the first heaven and earth had disappeared, and the sea was gone.
2 And I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
2 Then I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, dressed like a bride ready for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of Heaven, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them; and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them and be their God.
3 I heard a loud voice from the throne say, "God lives with humans! God will make his home with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away."
4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There won't be any more death. There won't be any grief, crying, or pain, because the first things have disappeared."
5 And He that sat upon the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said unto me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."
5 The one sitting on the throne said, "I am making everything new." He said, "Write this: 'These words are faithful and true.'"
6 And He said unto me, "It is done! I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the Water of Life freely.
6 He said to me, "It has happened! I am the A and the Z, the beginning and the end. I will give a drink from the fountain filled with the water of life to anyone who is thirsty. It won't cost anything.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
7 Everyone who wins the victory will inherit these things. I will be their God, and they will be my children.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
8 But cowardly, unfaithful, and detestable people, murderers, sexual sinners, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars will find themselves in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels, who had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, "Come hither; I will show thee the bride, the Lamb's wife."
9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the last seven plagues came to me and said, "Come! I will show you the bride, the wife of the lamb."
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the Holy Jerusalem, descending out of Heaven from God,
10 He carried me by his power away to a large, high mountain. He showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven.
11 having the glory of God. And her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.
11 It had the glory of God. Its light was like a valuable gem, like gray quartz, as clear as crystal.
12 It had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names were written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
12 It had a large, high wall with 12 gates. Twelve angels were at the gates. The names of the 12 tribes of Israel were written on the gates.
13 on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.
13 There were three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
14 The wall of the city had 12 foundations. The 12 names of the 12 apostles of the lamb were written on them.
15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof and the walls thereof.
15 The angel who was talking to me had a gold measuring stick to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as great as the breadth; and he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs; the length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
16 The city was square. It was as wide as it was long. He measured the city with the stick. It was 12,000 stadia long. Its length, width, and height were the same.
17 And he measured the wall thereof: a hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
17 He measured its wall. According to human measurement, which the angel was using, it was 144 cubits.
18 And the wall was built of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.
18 Its wall was made of gray quartz. The city was made of pure gold, as clear as glass.
19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,
19 The foundations of the city wall were beautifully decorated with all kinds of gems: The first foundation was gray quartz, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,
20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
20 the fifth onyx, the sixth red quartz, the seventh yellow quartz, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth green quartz, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each separate gate was of one pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were, transparent glass.
21 The 12 gates were 12 pearls. Each gate was made of one pearl. The street of the city was made of pure gold, as clear as glass.
22 And I saw no temple therein, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
22 I did not see any temple in it, because the Lord God Almighty and the lamb are its temple.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon to shine in it; for the glory of God gave it light, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
23 The city doesn't need any sun or moon to give it light because the glory of God gave it light. The lamb was its lamp.
24 And the nations of them that are saved shall walk in the light of it, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
24 The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day, for there shall be no night there,
25 Its gates will be open all day. They will never close because there won't be any night there.
26 and they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.
26 They will bring the glory and wealth of the nations into the holy city.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie, but only they that are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
27 Nothing unclean, no one who does anything detestable, and no liars will ever enter it. Only those whose names are written in the lamb's Book of Life will enter it.
