Romans 6:1-14

NRSA 1 What then are we to say? Should we continue in sin in order that grace may abound? NIV 1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? NRSA 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin go on living in it? NIV 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? NRSA 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? NIV 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? NRSA 4 Therefore we have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. NIV 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. NRSA 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. NIV 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. NRSA 6 We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. NIV 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— NRSA 7 For whoever has died is freed from sin. NIV 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. NRSA 8 But if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. NIV 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. NRSA 9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. NIV 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. NRSA 10 The death he died, he died to sin, once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. NIV 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. NRSA 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. NIV 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. NRSA 12 Therefore, do not let sin exercise dominion in your mortal bodies, to make you obey their passions. NIV 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. NRSA 13 No longer present your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and present your members to God as instruments of righteousness. NIV 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. NRSA 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. NIV 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
