Pastor Jeff Johnson attracts our attention to First John chapter four, and verses 17-21. In recent studies we’ve been encouraged to love one another, an important part of the Christian life to be sure. But today we want to focus on the vertical, our relationship and love for Father God. Something that should be priority number one!

We’re in First John at the present time. Find your place in chapter four. You may recall John’s theme has been love for one another. But today we want to zero in on a believer’s love for the Heavenly Father. And we’ll talk for a moment about some of the keys to becoming mature Christians!

Pastor Jeff Johnson is covering First John chapter four, and verses 17-21. In recent studies we’ve been encouraged to love one another, an important part of the Christian life to be sure. But today we want to focus on the vertical, our relationship and love for Father God. Something that should be priority number one!

What is Christian maturity? Today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff says it’s the Love of God. If God Loves us, we should in turn love people, and this includes those who we consider to be unlovely. Jesus said “they will know that you are my disciples, by your love for one another”.

Paul told Timothy, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” God’s love was perfected on the cross, and now there is no need to have any fear. Sadly, some still have an unhealthy fear of God’s Love, but today we’ll see that “perfect love casts out fear”.

The bible tells us to Love one another. But we can’t love people, without the Love of God in us. On todays program, Pastor Jeff encourages his listeners to continue growing in God’s Love, and in our love for one another.
