Better the poor whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse.

Desire without knowledge is not good— how much more will hasty feet miss the way!

A person’s own folly leads to their ruin, yet their heart rages against the LORD.
4
Wealth attracts many friends, but even the closest friend of the poor person deserts them.
5
A false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will not go free.

Many curry favor with a ruler, and everyone is the friend of one who gives gifts.
7
The poor are shunned by all their relatives— how much more do their friends avoid them! Though the poor pursue them with pleading, they are nowhere to be found.[a]

The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.

A false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will perish.

It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury— how much worse for a slave to rule over princes!

A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

INTRODUCTION TO 1 KINGS 8
This chapter gives an account of the introduction of the ark into the temple, 1Ki 8:1-9 of the glory of the Lord filling it, 1Ki 8:10,11 of a speech Solomon made to the people concerning the building of the temple, and how he came to be engaged in it, 1Ki 8:12-21, of a prayer of his he put up on this occasion, requesting, that what supplications soever were made at any time, or on any account, by Israelites or strangers, might be accepted by the Lord, 1Ki 8:22-53, and of his blessing the people of Israel at the close of it, with some useful exhortations, 1Ki 8:54-61, and of the great number of sacrifices offered up by him, and the feast he made for the people, upon which he dismissed them, 1Ki 8:62-66.

Paul in his letter to the Ephesians tells us to be angry and do not sin. Acting out in wrath doesn’t produce Gods righteousness, in fact it does quite opposite and makes a mess. Pastor Jeff is teaching through his message about hearing Gods word and actually living it out. There are many who simply hear the word gladly, but aren’t living as though they heard it. The book of James tells us that when we read the bible and ignore its commands and lessons, we are like a person who observes themselves in a mirror and then forgets what we look like when we walk away. That might sound extreme, but that’s how God views it when we hear his word and don’t actually follow what it says. Today pastor Jeff continues in his study of Proverbs chapter 19.
