2 Kings 14:3

And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord
. At least externally, and at the beginning of his reign:

yet not like David his father;
not with a perfect heart, with that sincerity and uprightness as he did, see ( 2 Chronicles 25:2 ) ,

he did according to all things as Joash his father did;
who at first reigned well, and then fell into idolatry, as this his son did.

1 L’anno secondo di Joas, figliuolo di Joachaz, re d’Israele, cominciò a regnare Amatsia, figliuolo di Joas, re di Giuda.

2 Avea venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò ventinove anni a Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Jehoaddan, ed era di Gerusalemme.

3 Egli fece ciò ch’è giusto agli occhi dell’Eterno; non però come Davide suo padre; fece interamente come avea fatto Joas suo padre.

4 Nondimeno gli alti luoghi non furon soppressi; il popolo continuava ad offrir sacrifizi e profumi sugli alti luoghi.

5 E, non appena il potere reale fu assicurato nelle sue mani, egli fece morire quei servi suoi che avean ucciso il re suo padre;
