5 Ma il sesto giorno, quando prepareranno quello che avran portato a casa, essa sarà il doppio di quello che avranno raccolto ogni altro giorno".

Exodus 16:5

And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day
Of the week, and from the raining of the bread, which was on the first day of the week:

they shall prepare that which they bring in;
the Targum of Jonathan adds, to eat on the sabbath day; what they did not consume on the sixth day was to be prepared and reserved for the seventh day; that is, it was to be baked or boiled as they thought fit to have it, or eat it as it was, which they pleased, see ( Exodus 16:23 ) only one part of it was to be kept till the next day:

and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily:
on that day should be rained double what fell on other days, and so twice as much should be gathered up; the reason for which is not here mentioned, but afterwards given; though Moses no doubt was now made acquainted with it, or otherwise he could not have informed the princes and people of it, as he afterwards did, ( Exodus 16:23 Exodus 16:25 Exodus 16:26 Exodus 16:29 ) .

3 I figliuoli d’Israele dissero loro: "Oh, fossimo pur morti per mano dell’Eterno nel paese d’Egitto, quando sedevamo presso le pignatte della carne e mangiavamo del pane a sazietà! Poiché voi ci avete menati in questo deserto per far morir di fame tutta questa raunanza".

4 E l’Eterno disse a Mosè: "Ecco, io vi farò piovere del pane dal cielo; e il popolo uscirà e ne raccoglierà giorno per giorno quanto gliene abbisognerà per la giornata, ond’io lo metta alla prova per vedere se camminerà o no secondo la mia legge.

5 Ma il sesto giorno, quando prepareranno quello che avran portato a casa, essa sarà il doppio di quello che avranno raccolto ogni altro giorno".

6 E Mosè ed Aaronne dissero a tutti i figliuoli d’Israele: "Questa sera voi conoscerete che l’Eterno è quegli che vi ha tratto fuori dal paese d’Egitto;

7 e domattina vedrete la gloria dell’Eterno; poich’egli ha udito le vostre mormorazioni contro l’Eterno; quanto a noi, che cosa siamo perché mormoriate contro di noi?"
