John 14:25

These things have I spoken unto you
Concerning his Father, and his Father's house, and the way to both; concerning his being in the father, and the Father in him; concerning keeping his commandments, and the advantages and benefits following upon it:

being,
says he,

[yet] present with you;
which is a strong intimation that in a little time he should not be present with them; and that whilst he was present with them, he was desirous of saying such things to them in a brief compendious manner, as they were able to bear; which might be of future use and instruction to them.

23 Gesù rispose e gli disse: Se uno mi ama, osserverà la mia parola; e il Padre mio l’amerà, e noi verremo a lui e faremo dimora presso di lui.

24 Chi non mi ama non osserva le mie parole; e la parola che voi udite non è mia, ma è del Padre che mi ha mandato.

25 Queste cose v’ho detto, stando ancora con voi;

26 ma il Consolatore, lo Spirito Santo che il Padre manderà nel mio nome, egli v’insegnerà ogni cosa e vi rammenterà tutto quello che v’ho detto.

27 Io vi lascio pace; vi do la mia pace. Io non vi do come il mondo dà. Il vostro cuore non sia turbato e non si sgomenti.
