Luca 24:43 Meaning and Commentary

Luke 24:43

And he took it, and did eat before them.
] That is, he took both the fish, and the honeycomb, and ate of them before them, they looking on all the while; and which was a proof of his being truly risen from the dead, and not a spectre, or apparition, and which they failed not afterwards to make use of; see ( Acts 10:41 ) . The Vulgate Latin, Arabic, and Ethiopic versions add, "he took the rest, or what remained, and gave it to them".

41 Ma siccome per l’allegrezza non credevano ancora, e si stupivano, disse loro: Avete qui nulla da mangiare?
42 Essi gli porsero un pezzo di pesce arrostito;
43 ed egli lo prese, e mangiò in loro presenza.
44 Poi disse loro: Queste son le cose che io vi dicevo quand’ero ancora con voi: che bisognava che tutte le cose scritte di me nella legge di Mosè, ne’ profeti e nei Salmi, fossero adempiute.
45 Allora apri loro la mente per intendere le Scritture, e disse loro:
